Research in the service of the athlete

2nd Symposium on Injury Prevention in Sport

January 25, 2026

ReFORM organised its 2nd Symposium on Injury Prevention in Sport on 14 (afternoon) and 15 October 2022, in collaboration with the Amsterdam Collaboration on Health and Safety in Sports.

On the first day, a series of practical workshops and lectures took place at the brand-new biomechanics centre “SportFabrik”, managed by the Luxembourg Institute for High Performance in Sports (LIHPS) in Differdange (south-west of Luxembourg). Speakers such as Professor Lars Engebretsen (Chair of the IOC Scientific Commission), Professor Roald Bahr (Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center), and Professor Evert Verhagen (Amsterdam Collaboration on Health and Safety in Sports) delivered highly appreciated presentations on the importance of injury prevention, as well as on the work carried out within the various IOC Research Centres.

The second day was held at the National Sports and Cultural Centre d’Coque in Luxembourg City. Various topics were addressed by internationally renowned speakers, including primary prevention, the multifactorial nature of injury prevention, and the tools available to support preventive strategies. The day concluded with a session dedicated to the prevention of lower limb injuries. Throughout these sessions, several cross-cutting and timely themes were discussed, notably the implementation of preventive measures, integrity in sport, and ethics in athlete care and support.

This second edition of the “ReFORM Prevention Days” was a great success! More than 170 participants attended across the two venues, and the high quality of the speakers’ presentations was warmly received by the audience.

The audience was diverse and included physiotherapists, physicians, coaches, and sport scientists.

Many thanks to the speakers for their presence and professionalism, and to our partners for their support.
