6th ReFORM Symposium on Injury Prevention in Sport
August 7, 2026Preventive and Educational Strategies for Athletes
The 6th ReFORM Symposium took place on April 24, 2026, at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. This edition brought together over 100 researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, representatives from international federations, and practitioners around a central issue:
How can we effectively implement athlete-centered educational and injury prevention strategies?
Throughout the day, attendees explored a rich and varied program. Dr. Jane Thornton opened the event by sharing International Olympic Committee perspectives on protecting athlete health. Subsequent sessions covered the following topics:
▸ Injury prevention across diverse populations (Dr. Jean-François Kaux, Dr. Margo Mountjoy, Dr. Gaël Guilhem)
▸ Implementation challenges: Perspectives of sports federations (Dr. Jörg Spörri, Dr. Hanspeter Betschart, Dr. Silvia Giagio)
▸ Prevention and education issue in various contexts, and practical tools for on-field application (Dr. Katy Seil-Moreels, Dr. Camille Tooth, Dr. Philippe Tscholl)
▸ Technology for prevention (Dr. Laurent Navarro, Dr. Yosra Mekki, Paolo Panichelli)
The program also featured two keynotes: Dr. Tim Meyer discussed methodological challenges in injury prevention research, and Dr. Pascal Edouard shared lessons learned from his dual experience as a researcher and clinician.
Many fascinating projects were also presented during the poster sessions and top-abstract oral presentations.
This event once again highlighted the strength of the ReFORM network and the vital need to bridge research, clinical practice, and implementation through data-driven, field-adapted approaches.
A huge thank you to all the speakers for their outstanding presentations, and to all participants for their presence, engagement, and rich discussions. Special thanks to the International Olympic Committee representatives for their attendance and support, as well as to our sponsors for making this event possible.
