Translation and validation of HIP-RSI questionnaire

January 25, 2026

The assessment of athletes’ psychological readiness to return to sport after injury has been increasingly studied and is now considered a crucial step in the return-to-play process. The objective of this project is to translate and validate the HIP–Return to Sport after Injury questionnaire into French, a tool specifically designed for individuals who have undergone arthroscopic hip surgery.

To this end, the original English version was first translated following the methodology established by Beaton et al. (2000). The pre-test version of the translated questionnaire was then administered to an initial sample of patients in order to assess the quality and clarity of the translation.

The final French version of the questionnaire will subsequently be compared with three other hip-specific questionnaires available in the literature and already validated (HOOS, OHS, and SHO-12).

The results of this study will be shared on this page soon.
