Survey on injury prevention in sports medicine
In 2021, the German Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatic Sports medicine (GOTS) published the results of a survey aimed at assessing the knowledge, habits and perceptions of prevention practices in sport among 272 therapists (Austrian, German and Swiss), belonging to their Society, through an online questionnaire of 22 questions.
ReFORM wanted to extend this survey within its network. To do this, the GOTS questionnaire was translated into a French version by various experts and native speakers. The questionnaire was then widely distributed to health professionals (sports doctors, surgeons, fitness trainers, physiotherapists etc…) in contact with athletes from various levels of play. The survey was relayed by the French Society of Sports Traumatology and the French Society of Exercise and Sports Medecine. In total, almost 500 participants answered to the questionnaire.
The results obtained by ReFORM have been compared with those obtained within the GOTS. A significant gap was observed between the positive perceptions reported regarding prevention and its implementation in practice. The results of the study will be available soon.
