Concussion survey
January 25, 2026An estimated 1.6 to 3.8 million concussions are reported each year in the United States. According to a recent UK study, nearly 50% of elite rugby players show changes in brain volume following repeated head impacts. Appropriate concussion management is essential for athletes’ health and long-term outcomes.
The “Concussion Survey” aimed to assess the level of knowledge among healthcare professionals, athletes, and coaches regarding the occurrence and management of concussions, in order to develop training programmes tailored to the needs of both practitioners and athletes based on the results.
To this end, a questionnaire of approximately thirty questions was widely distributed (by email, newsletters, social media, and the website) within the ReFORM network. In total, more than 2,000 questionnaires were collected.
